                            There are various automation performed based on the process you automate and systems\applications it interact with. The following list tell us an overview of automatable tasks,

Excel Automation

Can read excel, write excel either entire sheet or a particular cell again based on tool used to automate. Create excel, with the support of vbscript some tools give more capability to perform different operations on excel.

Web automation

Any browser related actions like connecting to a website and performing operations comes into this category. When we need to do data entry into a website or retrieve data from a website or perform other operations on any web related activity this automation is used.

Desktop Automation

Unlike web automation the standard desktop applications can be automated under this category. This includes opening the applications that are present in your system, performing operations on those applications, reading data from those applications.

PDF Automation

This includes reading data from PDF files. Some tools support this by providing activities to read PDF files using OCR technology and get the data from PDF files. PDF files can be created using this type of automation.

Mainframes Automation

This type of automation mostly requires keyboard actions to navigate and input data. Screen data is captured to read data from the screen. Mostly using Tabs and Enter to navigate pages or some special function keys are defined are used to navigate.

Citrix Automation

Citrix automation is done by considering the remote window as an image. So we need to use image based activities or keyboard activities to perform automation in citrix. Almost all tools support image based automation.

UiPath Studio UiPath Studio                   UiPath is a robotic process automation tool which provides capabilities to automate all kinds of processes. The UiPath tool is not a freeware and is available from https://www.uipath.com/studio. The tool provides a trail version for two months from the official site.
